Today we have a promise from the Federal government, City leaders and community stakeholders, that an sizable investment is being made in Hollywood, East Hollywood, Westlake, Little Armenia, and Koreatown. This investment in parks, schools, and the community as a whole, will make the 13th District an even better place to live, work, and recreate in the City of Los Angeles.
I am thrilled and appreciative that President Obama has chosen these areas to be included in this community building initiative, also known as Promise Zones. Los Angeles is one of only five Promise Zones in the entire country, I am committed to bringing additional resources, job opportunities, and quality of life improvements to the traditionally under served neighborhoods in our district.
This designation validates what Mayor Garcetti and I have known for a long time; that considerable investment will provide that key ingredient to lift these neighborhoods to the level our constituents deserve. My commitment and determination to see this program through to the end is set in stone.
We will leverage these resources for long term sustainability and economic growth for current and future generations. I am excited to start building the blocks that will lead to sustainability well into the future. I will be sure to post more information here on my blog as I receive updates.
