I recently spoke with NBC4’s Conan Nolan on NewsConference to discuss the recent City Council vote on a wage increase for hotel workers, as well as the Mayor’s proposed city-wide minimum wage increase.
As I’ve mentioned before, I want everyone in my district to have access to a good paying job, affordable housing, quality health care, safe neighborhoods, recreational opportunities, and a well rounded education. We also need to be aware of the plight of the small business owner, a major employer in LA, as we craft a citywide minimum wage policy. I want to work towards a plan that will lift our low income workers, as well as create a thriving local economy. [AN EVEN BETTER BUSINESS FRIENDLY LOS ANGELES]
As we move forward with this discussion on raising the wage, we also need to provide relief to our small business community. I have created a survey for business owners, and I want to hear directly from you, our small business community. The small business survey can be found here, and I encourage you to share this with family and friends who are business owners anywhere in the City. Please feel free to also show them my interview on NewsConference. I want to make it clear that I stand with the business community in crafting policy that is fair and equitable.
