I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunity to represent you on the Los Angeles City Council.

There is so much to be grateful for this year...

I am grateful that Los Angeles is adding jobs and putting people back to work. We have much further to go, however we are on our way.

I am grateful for AB 1839, and the leadership of Assemblymembers Raul Bocanegra and Mike Gatto for crafting a law that will keep film and television production jobs right where they belong.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with our Department of Recreation and Parks and the Los Angeles Unified School District to enact a Good Food Policy for Angelenos, and through this program we were able to bring a free summer lunch program to our youth at Recreation and Park facilities across the City.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with my colleagues on creating policy that will help bring more affordable housing to those who are living on the margins. I will be grateful to have your support to make this happen.

I am grateful for the Team Mitch Clean Team, which is working five days a week in every part of the district including areas along the Los Angeles River, helping to make our neighborhoods shine.

I am grateful for the thousands of City employees, including police and fire personnel, who make the City work, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I am grateful for compassion and love, and the march across the nation toward full marriage equality.

And finally, I am grateful for my partner George Brauckman and our newest addition, Speedy, our dog that we adopted from a City shelter.

I want to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to represent the great Council District 13. It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve my constituents on the Los Angeles City Council.

Councilmember Mitch O'Farrell
