What was once a vision is now a reality for the faculty, staff, parents and students at Dorris Place Elementary School in Elysian Valley.
Budget cuts forced the school to stop offering its music instruction, which many of you will agree is instrumental in providing kids an outlet to express themselves.
Knowing the importance of music as part of a well rounded education, school administrators took matters into their own hands and raised money to buy instruments. Once again, the halls at Dorris are filled with beautiful music.
Hopefully for years to come, this same spirit, excitement, and passion for the Arts is alive and well. I strongly believe that integrating the Arts with other academic disciplines will benefit students.
I was happy to have provided chairs and tables at the school's most recent fundraiser, and the result of the community coming together is having a tremendous impact on students. See for yourself in their Vimeo.
