LOS ANGELES - City leaders celebrated the beginning of the fourth annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Heritage Month in Los Angeles with a City Council presentation and community reception at City Hall.
The event, which was held on May 30, honored LGBT activists who have fought for equality in the City of Angels. As part of the celebration, City Controller Ron Galperin, Councilmember Mike Bonin, and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell honored a series of LGBT activists, advocates, and pioneers for their work advancing equality.
NBA star Jason Collins, former LA City Clerk June Lagmay, homeless youth advocate Carlos Sosa, Rabbi Lisa Edwards of Beth Chayim Chadashim, Rabbi Denise Eger, and community leaders Mignon Moore and Elaine Harley received recognition during the presentation.
